Buyer’s Inspection
Our general home inspection is a thorough examination of a property’s visible and readily accessible areas. Pre-Listing Inspection
Wise home sellers know that it is a good idea to schedule this inspection before you put a home on the market. We’ll arrive to the property prior to it being listed so that we can perform a thorough inspection of the readily accessible areas. If any issues are found, you’ll have an opportunity to correct them before the home is shown to potential buyers. If you choose not to arrange repairs, this inspection will still benefit the negotiating process by ensuring that the buyer’s inspection doesn’t turn up anything that you haven’t already disclosed with your listing.
New Construction Inspection
This inspection is intended to take place as construction draws to a close on your brand new home. Before the builder’s final walkthrough, we’ll perform a full evaluation of the property’s readily accessible areas to look for possible safety issues or structural defects. If our inspection uncovers any areas of concern, we’ll carefully explain what the issues entail so that you can consult with the builder or the other contractors to arrange remediation before the project is complete.
Re-Inspections
This service is a re-evaluation of a home’s components that were found to be defective during a previous inspection that you scheduled with Empire Inspection. We’ll return to the home to assess any repairs or new installations, ensuring that the previously defective components are in good condition and don’t violate any safety standards.
Radon Testing
Radon is an odorless and invisible radioactive gas that has been known to endanger the health of people who are unwittingly exposed. After forming underground from natural processes, the gas is sometimes able to rise up through the structure of a home to contaminate the air that residents breathe. We use a specialized canister test that will absorb radon from the air if present. The test will then be sent off to a laboratory to determine the level of radon in the home. After the results come back, you’ll be informed of strategies for mitigation in the event of a reading showing an unsafe level of this deadly, cancer-causing gas.
WDI/Termite Inspection
This inspection will ensure that the home you’re thinking about buying isn’t damaged by termites or other wood-destroying organisms. Termite damage can be extremely costly to repair, and it isn’t always easy to spot with an untrained eye. In addition to assessing a home for damage, this inspection will also search for signs of ongoing infestations.
Underground Oil Tank Scanning
This inspection is intended to be scheduled as an add-on service to select inspections. A crew of specialists will visit your prospective property with metal detection equipment in order to sweep the property for an underground oil tank. These tanks can be a huge liability if you purchase a home without knowing that one is present—you’d then be responsible for the tank and any environmental damage that could result from potential leaks.
